Doesn't Mikrotec already filter emails for spam? [back to top]
Yes we do. Click here to read the Spam Filter FAQ

Why Mailwasher? [back to top]
For some people, downloading and running a program that they can control from their own machine gives them more of a sense of control, and that's fine. Whether you utilize Mikrotec's built in spam filtering or download MailWasher, it still will require some learning and effort to maximize the efficiency of your spam filtering efforts and ensure that you get the emails you do want, and eliminate most of the ones you don't want.

How do I install it? [back to top]
Follow the link to MailWasher's page (and click on "Free Download"). Click on the download button and then choose "Open" when the download window appears. In most cases, you will want to leave most of the directory settings alone. For system requirements and a complete tutorial including installation help, please see http://www.mailwasher.net/tutorial.php?s=0.

What are the server settings? [back to top]
In most cases, you'll enter pop.mikrotec.com as the POP3 and SMTP mail server. If this does not work, please check your Outlook or Outlook Express settings for your outgoing mail server by checking TOOLS > ACCOUNTS and looking for the outgoing mail server there. If you still can't get a working mail server, please call Mikrotec Technical Support.  Your username is the first part of your Mikrotec email address before the @ symbol. For example, if your email address is joenetsurfer2234@mikrotec.com, then your username is joenetsurfer2234. The password is the password associated with the email account you are trying to access. This may or may not be the same username/password that you use for a dial-up connection to Mikrotec, but for most people, it will be. Generally, there is no need to change the advanced server settings for this program.

How do I uninstall it? [back to top]
The easiest way to uninstall the program is to go to the Windows Control Panel and choose Add/Remove Programs and uninstall from there.

Where can I get help? [back to top]
First and foremost, read the program's tutorial at http://www.mailwasher.net/tutorial.php. To access help, click "Help" on the toolbar at the top of the program and choose "Program Help". You should read and search the help files thoroughly before requesting assistance. Chances are, you'll find the answer to most of your questions there faster than anywhere else. If all else fails, you can call Mikrotec Technical Support and they will attempt to assist you with the program. Please bear in mind that Mikrotec did not write this program, we only suggest it, and our technicians may not be privy to all technical support issues with this program.
